them no go see (2012)

Solo for a dancer, accompanied by a musician

Note of intention

This new piece will draw its sources from written texts. These transshipments of writing, or more exactly how I directly wrote and deformed what was given to me to hear of conversation, discussions, confidential exchanges and other discussions received from our public spaces, our private spheres. What seemed important to me was the immediate interpretation that I made, that I understood. The meaning and the context did not have or no longer had but the lone abandoned work in the floods of words and the games of rebounding of these words are rapidly installed with their musicalities like the echos of fragments of thoughts. And in this way, new contexts are born. Is it possible to incorporate our multiple languages, whether they are bodily or linguistic? What about the not said? Would it be possible to create the day with words? With acts? As these instants where the artist distances himself from his own work not to admire it but to improve it, to put it into question. The texts, publicity slogans and other interferences that are regularly diffused to us are they in harmony with what we live? But where are our dream spaces, our spaces of expression of imagination. If a language has more than 236 ways of saying hello, where is the necessity? And what is then its relationship to the world, to the other? What type of life does it lead to? This piece crosses the incoherency and the facets, will collate them to notions of verticality, of danced movements..
